Updated toxicology sheets for benzo(a)anthracene, benzo(a)pyrene, benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo(g,h,i)perylene, benzo(k)fluoranthene, chrysene, dibenzo(ah)anthracene and indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene have been uploaded on to the ATRISK^soil website.

The SSVs were updated for the information provided in the updated toxicology sheets in December 2009 and no updates are required for the SSVs currently published on the subscriber area of the website.

The update followed client/subscriber feedback which suggested a revision of the oral toxicological approach would be preferred to make the generic screening values more conservative. Atkins therefore updated the SSVs in December 2009 for the above eight PAHs using toxicological data from the Environment Agency TOX Report 2 (2002) in December 2009.

Atkins considers that the previous toxicological approach would not cause any unacceptable risks to the receptor based on our interpretation of the SR2 guidance.
